Contract Grower’s Meet: Bacolod

BAVI (Bouny Agro Ventures, Inc.) – Bacolod Contract Grower’s Meeting

“A study done at the University of Texas found that people remember (Metcalf 1997): 10 % of what they read, 20% of what they hear, 30% of what they see, 50% of what they see and hear, 70% of what they say and 90% of what they do and see”, uttered Dr. Erasmus Paderes (AVP for Animal Health and Technical Services, National Contract Growing Head) in the recently held Contract Grower’s Meeting and Awarding Ceremony last March 17, 2011 in Sugarland Hotel, Araneta St., Bacolod City. This annual event convenes all CGs purposely to review and evaluate flock performance, address various concerns/issues, give updates regarding management practices that will improve broiler performance and recognize growers showing exemplary performance.

The program was preceded by Dr. Irene Mae Limson (Bacolod CG Supervisor) with a prayer that was followed by a welcome address from Dr. Antonio Utzurrum (Group Manager- Western Visayas Operation). Then after, Dr. Erasmus Paderes presented a review and evaluation of Bacolod CG Performance for 2010 with reference to BAVI National Performance. Highlights in the said discussion was further tackled as Dr. Audry Rose Gabonada (Epidemiologist- Visayas operation) dealt with factors causing high FCR and harvest week depletion affecting the broiler efficiency. Issues and concerns were raised during the open forum.

An awarding ceremony was then conducted in recognition to the top growers of the said branch. The following were awarded top performing farms in Bacolod: Ricky Montero (BPI-261), Joel Sarmiento ( 252), George Baterna 3 (250), George Baterna 1 (243), Luz Zuloaga (238), George Baterna 1 (237), Alvin Soliva (236), Ma Cecilia Jimenez (235.2), Caroll Guanco (235.1) and Arsenia Diaz (233).

The said event was realized with the joint sponsorship of Hipra Phils. Inc represented by Dr. Raul Lopes (Regional Technical Manager) along with Dr. Gilbert Castro (Key Account Specialist) and Novartis delegated by Giselle Elliot (Key Account Specialist). The following speakers talked about Turkey Rhinotracheitis, Vaccines and Vaccine Handling and Fly Control Program, respectively.
