Employees extend assistance to Christmas fire victims in Zamboanga
February 14, 2017

Employees of Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. (BAVI) Zamboanga shared their time and blessings to the fire victims residing in Barangay Camino Nuevo in Zamboanga City last February 4 in a simple feeding program.

Last Christmas Day, a fire razed a residential area in Barangay Camino Nuevo, leaving more than 600 families homeless until now. According to Beng Bahandi, barangay kagawad, most of the fire victims were laborers, vendors and construction workers.

The outreach program aimed to show love to the affected families, especially the young children whose ages range from 1 to 10 years. The employees shared their blessings and served filling breakfast meals.

According to BAVI Zamboanga Branch Head Nilo Barrete, they are happy that they were able to extend assistance to the fire victims, who are yet to be relocated. He said, “We are happy to help our brothers and sisters in our own way. We know that this small act will make them happy as well, especially the kids.”

“It is not everyday that we get to help others. We are grateful for this opportunity to help others.” added Liberato Lenon, group manager.

For Josephine Luna, one of the employees who participated in the activity, seeing the beaming smiles of the children is a rewarding experience.

Bayanihan has always been at the core of BAVI. It encourages its employees to hold regular outreach programs in all its business centers. Last year, the company conducted a feeding program for the victims of Super Typhoon Lawin in Isabela and an outreach program for the victims of Typhoon Nina in Bicol.
